How to make: Scones



250 gr self-rising flour
2 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 sachet vanilla sugar
2 tbsp sugar
50 gr butter
1 egg
75 ml milk

Serve with

clotted cream or whipped cream

oven: 225 c / 430 f

baking time: 10 minutes


1. Preheat the ovento 225 c / 430 f 
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a bowl, sift the flour, salt and baking powder; set aside.

2. In a medium bowl, whisk the egg and milk. Set aside; 1 tbsp of the egg-milk mixture
( for the top of the scones )

3. In a large bowl, add the butter, then rub in with your fingers until the mix looks like fine crumbs.

add the milk mixture and knead until elastic dough.
you can add more flour if dough is too sticky.

4. Turn on to a floured work surface and Pat out to a round 2cm/¾in thick. Use a 5cm/2in cutter to stamp out rounds and place on a baking sheet. 

I used a cup.

Lightly knead together the rest of the dough and stamp out more scones to use it all up.

5. Brush with the egg-milk mixture. Place in the oven and bake for about 10 minutes ( until golden brown )

Serve with jam and clotted cream.
