Baked Donuts

Serves: 16 donuts - Prep time: 10 minutes - Rest time: 1 h - Baking time: 20 minutes - Total time: 1 h 30 minutes




 


Ingredients
  • 300 gr all purpose flour
  • 4 g dry yeast (half sachet, about 1/4 tbsp)
  • 1 tbsp white sugar
  • 150 ml milk, lukewarm
  • 75 ml sunflower oil
  • 1 egg
  • pinch salt
You will also need:
  • 50 ml water
  • 1 tbsp honey or sugar
  • 150 g dark chocolate, melted
  • sprinkles and nuts

Instructions




1. In a small bowl, combine the lukewarm milk, yeast and sugar to disolve the yeast. Stir and let sit for 5 minutes.

2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the egg, oil, disolved yeast, half of the flour and salt. Stir until well combined. Add the remaining flour and knead until smooth. Add more flour if dough is too sticky. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and kitchen towel. Allow to rise for 20 minutes. 

3. Line a baking tray with parchment paper. Oil your hands lightly and roll dough into equal size balls. Place on lined baking sheet, cover and let sit for 40 minutes more.

4. Preheat the oven to 180C(356F).

5. Use bottle cap, dip bottle caplihtly in flour and cut the center of the balls. Bake in preheated oven for about 20 minutes or until golden brown. 

6. Meanwhile make the glaze. In a small bowl, combine the water and honey or sugar. 
Brush top of each (warm) doughnut with the glaze.

7. Dip donuts in melted chocolate and decorate with sprinkles or nuts.
