Braided Nutella Bread in 50 Minutes
08:469 mini Nutella breads
240 ml yogurt
1 egg
100 ml vegetable oil
370 gr all purpose flour
1 sachet baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tsp vanilla extract
Filling:
Nutella
handful chopped walnuts
1 tbsp melted butter
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 180C(356F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the yogurt, egg, oil, baking powder, salt and vanilla extract. Stir in half of the flour. Add the remaning flour and knead until elastic and smooth. Add more flour if dough is too sticky.
3. On a floured surface, Divide dough into 9 pieces. Roll each dough out. Spread 1 tbsp Nutella onto each dough. Sprinkle with chopped walnuts.
4. Roll the dough starting at the long side to the other end. Pinch the ends tight and place the seem end at the bottom. Now using a serrated knife cut the rolled log shaped dough in the middle into 2 leaving one end intact. Now carefully twist the cut end facing upwards so that the Nutella can be seen. Now start braiding by twisting them one over another. Pinch the ends together. Make sure you use enough flour on the dough and the rolling surface to make it workable. Form a circle and pinch the ends. Repeat with remaining flour.
5. Brush top of each braided bread with melted butter and top with some chopped walnuts. Bake in preheated oven for about 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven.
6. Brush more melted butter on top of each braided bread. Serve warm or cold.
