Turkish Simit Sesame Cookies


Makes 20 cookies

100 gr butter, softened
1 egg yolk
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp granulated sugar
1/2 sachet baking powder
35 ml vegetable oil
300 gr all purpose flour

Sesame seeds
1 egg white


1. In a large mixing bowl, combine butter, egg yolk, salt, sugar, flour, baking powder and oil. Knead until a ball of dough begins to form. Add more flour if dough is too sticky.

2. Preheat oven to 200 C - 390 F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

3. Roll dough into walnut sized ball, Roll each piece into a thin log and form a ring pressing the ends together and making sure they perfectly stick. Place on lined sheet and bake for about 15 to 18 minutes or until golden brown.
