Ingredients

Cake
  • 2 eggs
  • 300g granulated sugar
  • 250 ml water, lukewarm
  • 150 ml oil
  • 150g cream cheese
  • 1,5 tsp baking powder
  • 90g cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract or sugar
  • 350g all-purpose flour
Sauce
  • 150 ml milk
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 100g dark chocolate chunks
Method

1. Preheat the oven to 175 C / 350 F. Grease and dust a loaf pan with baking spray and cocoa powder.

2. In a large mixing bowl, cream the eggs and the sugar for about 2-3 minutes. Add the cream cheese and mix until combined. Stir in the lukewarm water and oil. Then add vanilla, cocoa powder, baking powder and flour, mix for about 2-3 minutes or until incorporated.

3. Pour the batter into the greased loaf pan. Bake in preheated oven for about 45 minutes.

4. Remove the cake from the oven. Allow to cool for at least 30 minutes before removing from the pan.

5. To make the sauce: Mix the milk and cocoa powder in a heavy pan. Heat the mixture for about 2-3 minutes over medium heat. Add the chocolate chunks and remove form the heat. Stir until the chocolates are completely melted. 

6. Remove the cake from the pan. Pour the sauce over the cake.
