Ingredients
- 500g chestnuts
- water
Syrup:
- 250g granulated sugar
- 500 ml water
Method
1. Make a slit down with a knife in each chestnut. Place the chestnuts in a large pot and cover with water. Cover the pot and bring to a boil, then lower the heat. Simmer for about 20 minutes.
2. Drain the chestnuts and pour into a bowl filled with cold water.
3. To make the syrup: In a saucepan, stir together the water and sugar. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
4. Peel the chestnuts and place in the saucepan, simmer over low heat for about 30 minutes. Remove from the heat and serve the candied chestnut warm or cold.
