Beignets in 15 Minutes


Serves: 5 servings - Prep time: 10 minutes - Cook time: 5 minutes - Total time: 15 minutes

  • 200 ml yogurt
  • pinch salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 7,5 g baking powder
  • 250 g all purpose flour
You will also need:
  • pot oil for frying
  • confectioner's sugar


1. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the yogurt, pinch salt, sugar, vanilla extract, baking powder and 3/4 of the flour. Knead until a smooth ball of dough. Add remaining flour or more flour if needed.

2. On a floured surface, roll out dough 1/8 inch thick. Cut into 2 1/2 inch squares. Fry over both sides in 360 degree F (180 degrees C) hot oil.  Drain onto paper towels.

3. Dust some confectioner's sugar on hot beignets. Serve warm or cold.
