Peas and Carrots Sausage Rolls


YIELD: makes 6 sausage rolls -

  • 250 g ground beef
  • 100 g canned peas and carrots
  • 1 egg
  • 5 tbsp breadcrumbs
  • salt
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp red paprika powder
  • pinch cumin
  • 1/2 tsp coriander
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric
  • 6 puff pastry squares, thawed
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • sesame seeds


1. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, egg, breadcrumbs, spices, salt and canned vegetables. Stir until well combined. Place in refrigerator for about 10 minutes or until set.
2. Preheat the oven to 220C 428 F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
3. Form beef mixture into 6 long, tubular shapes and place it on the puff pastry squares so it reaches from long end to long end. Brush the long side of the puff pastry furthest from you with some egg wash. Roll up the puff pasty to create a long log. Pinch the seams together and transfer, seam-side down, to the baking sheet. Brush top with beaten egg and sprinkle some sesaem seeds on top. 
4. Bake in preheated oven for about 20 minutes or until golden brown. Serve sliced.
