Super Soft Chocolate Chip Buns - Episode 321


YIELD: Makes 9 Buns - Prep Time: 1 h 20 M - Cook Time: 25 M - Total Time: 1 h 45 M


  • 1 sachet dry yeast (7g)
  • 75 g white sugar
  • 50 ml lukewarm water
  • 100 ml lukewarm milk
  • pinch salt
  • 50 ml sunflower oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 375 g all purpose flour
  • 150 g chocolate chips
  • 1 egg yolk, for top

1. In a large mixing bowl combine the lukewarm water, yeast and sugar. Let sit for 10 minutes. Add the  lukewarm milk, sunflower oil, 2 eggs, pinch salt and half of the flour. 
Add the remaining flour and knead until smooth. (Dough becomes little bit sticky.) Add the chocolate chips and knead until well combined. 
2. Cover and allow to rise for 40 minutes or until doubled in size.
3. Preheat the oven to 180C 356F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
4. Roll dough into 9 equal size balls and place on lined baking sheet.
5. Brush top with egg yolk and bake in preheated oven for about 25 to 30 minutes or until golden to deep brown.
