Cheesy Broccoli and Cauliflower Casserole | Episode 346

  • 300 g Broccoli, florets
  • 400 g Cauliflower, florets
  • 2 potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 l water
  • 50 g butter
  • 2 tbsp all purpose flour
  • 500 ml milk
  • Salt
  • 50 g cheese, shredded

  • 50 g extra shredded cheese


1. Place the broccoli florets, cauliflower florets, cubed potatoes, salt and water in a medium pan. 
Simmer for about 15 minutes. Drain and set aside.
2. Preheat the oven to 220C 428F.
3. Meanwhile, make the sauce: Heat a medium sauce pan over medium heat, melt butter. When butter has completely melted add flour. Whisk until smooth, about 2 minutes. Whisk in the milk. Whisking constantly. Add salt. The sauce should be thick enough to coat the back of a wooden spoon. Remove from heat and season with shredded cheese.
4. Transfer the broccoli florets, cauliflower florets and potatoes to a baking dish. Season with salt and pepper. Top with the sauce and shredded cheese. 
5. Place in preheated oven and bake for about 25 minutes or until golden brown.
