Easy Turkish Pide (Turkish Bread) Recipe | Episode 382

Ingredients
  • 14 g dry yeast
  • 100 ml milk, lukewarm
  • 100 ml water, lukewarm
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 350 g strong flour or all purpose flour
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • sesame seeds and nigella seeds
Instructions

1. Transfer the flour to a bowl. Make a well in the center, then add water, milk, sugar and yeast. Stir until combined, let sit for 5 minutes. Add the salt and 1 tbsp olive oil. Stir until well combined. Add the remaining oil and knead to a smooth and elastic ball for about 5 minutes. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and a clean kitchen towel. Let sit for about 1 hr.
2. Line a baking tray with parchment paper. Transfer the dough to the lined tray. Flatten the dough with floured hands. 
3. Use the blunt edge of a knife or your fingers draw four parallel lines across the top of the dough, then four more perpendicular to those to make a criss-cross pattern.
4. Cover with a clean kitchen towel and let sit for 20 to 25 minutes.
5. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 200 C 390 F.
6. Brush top of bread with the beaten egg. Sprinkle nigella seeds and sesame seeds on top. Bake in preheated oven for about 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown.
